Cost of Compliance with Energy Conservation
Jim Riggins of EnerSmart Energy Solutions prepared an analysis of the increased costs associated with the adoption of the recent, more energy efficient building codes.
Over the last 30 years, building codes have evolved to include:
- improved building safety
- reduced risk of fire
- reduced demand on natural resources through energy efficiency
- reduced pollution
- Changes made range from improved building insulation, to windows that seal better, to more efficient heating and cooling systems.
Homeowners will find the information in the analysis to be useful if they are still negotiating with their insurance companies to finalize their replacement and rebuilding costs.
