Wildfire Preparedness Day of Service

Governor Hickenlooper has declared Saturday, May 4, 2013 as the Colorado Wildfire Preparedness Day of Service. As discovered in our neighborhoods, wildfire is a risk to which Coloradans are subject. The Governor is asking all Colorado residents to commit some time on May 4th to make you and your neighborhoods safe from future fires. There are a many sponsors, including Colorado Springs Together, who are working together to make this happen.

What can you do to participate? Please take a moment to view the suggested project ideas for May 4th. These projects can be done individually, by family groups, or in larger groups.

Please:

  • Commit a couple hours to at least one of the proposed projects so you can participate in this important activity to minimize future wildfires.
  • Make certain to check the safety guidelines so everyone stays safe as they carry out their chosen project.
  • Visit the websites listed in the resource section of the safety guidelines, and check the Firewise Communities website and Facebook page to find updates on additional individual or group projects.

Make it a great day! Together we are making a difference as we continue to recover from the wildfire that struck the Mountain Shadows neighborhoods.
