Additional Seedlings & Replanting Details

Below, please find another update from Marty France about Seedling/Replanting Efforts for Arbor Day, April 27th.

So far, about 50 residents have signed up for donated seedling trees (Ponderosa Pine, Pinon Pine, and Rocky Mountain Juniper). Trees will be delivered on Saturday, April 27 and there will be crews from the Air Force Academy available to help plant the seedlings for those requiring assistance. We’ll also have a small crew from the State Forestry Office that will have instructions for planting and care—and they’ll be training the planting teams, too.

If you requested donated trees or ordered and paid for additional trees (or both) through the earlier email announcements, please be sure to click here to update your requests in the Google Docs file. We specifically need your e-mail address or a good phone number to confirm that you will be on the property and available to receive your seedlings beginning at 10:00 a.m. on April 27. If you would like to keep this information private, please e-mail it directly to me so I can contact you.

Please be ready to show us where you’d like the seedlings planted (stakes and ribbons for desired planting spots would be nice). Our experts can advise on-the-spot if they think your planting scheme isn’t appropriate.

If you didn’t sign up, but would still like some seedlings (and I think we should have up to 100 extra), please sign up at the above link to the Google Docs file. As a reminder, these are SMALL seedlings (12”) ideally suited for natural areas and for revegetating drainages and ravines in the Mountain Shadows area. They’ll require care and watering. Please sign up only if you can meet the obligations of caring for these seedlings.

Thanks for your support of this important event, and please let me know if you have any questions about this process.

Sincerely,
Marty France
