Waldo Canyon Fire Memorabilia Preservation
The entire city of Colorado Springs was impacted by Waldo Canyon Fire. But no neighborhood was so deeply affected as the Mountain Shadows community. The pain of loss and the determination to rebuild with hope for the future is something that will be with the residents of Mountain Shadows for the rest of their lives.
Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum plans to open an exhibition about the Waldo Canyon Fire in June, 2013-the month that will be the emotional and victorious one-year anniversary of the incident-and they are in need of items to help tell this story.
They are asking for your help to document and preserve Waldo Canyon Fire memorabilia and donate the items to the museum. A great example of something to donate would be the recent gift of a burned out Vespa motor scooter retrieved (from what used to be a garage) during the debris removal demonstration on June 16, 2012.

Mountain Shadows Community Association
Additionally, the Mountain Shadows Community Association has an idea to build a memorial of some description. One of the great ideas they have had is to incorporate bricks and stones and other architectural features from houses that were burned or damaged into this memorial when it is built. Please put aside some of these items from your home and save them to be collected in the future to support this effort.
