Flood Insurance Deadline

To avoid the 30-day waiting period previously waived by FEMA, flood insurance must be purchased by September 9, 2012. After September 9, the 30-day waiting period for coverage against damage caused by flooding from the Waldo Canyon burn area will be reinstated.

Waldo Canyon Fire burn regions are at heightened risk of flooding. According to FEMA, "Floods are the number one natural disaster in the United States in terms of lives lost and property damaged."
