Kim Kaufer's Photo Story
As we shared with you last week, Johnny Wilson from Wilson Photography, Inc. is providing pen, paper, and a complimentary portrait to people throughout the community who wish to tell the story of their experience during the Waldo Canyon Fire or its aftermath.
This effort has been very well received, and at least 40 residents have expressed interest in writing for the project. Many firefighters and other first responders have also participated. We would like to encourage a wide variety of folks to consider putting their experiences on paper for the collection.
If you worked for a school, a church, a charity, or any other organization engaged during the events of the fire, please consider what your story adds to the larger picture. Someone directed traffic; someone reported live from the scene; someone tracked weather conditions; someone gave shelter to animals; someone sifted through the debris; someone was out of town, unable to make it home. Thousands upon thousands of citizens were affected, and each one has a unique story to tell.
Finished Collection
The wide range of individual narratives will be compiled to preserve a unique collection of first-hand accounts of the firestorm. The finished collection will be of great historical value for the state of Colorado and will be viewed by future generations at various locations both locally and across the State.

Colorado Springs Together is a community-driven volunteer effort, and is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The team members are distinguished citizens and business professionals in the community facilitating and coordinating a quick and effective rebuilding process for the neighborhoods devastated on June 26th by the fire. The donations received will go towards the activities required to help restore the lives and the neighborhoods affected by the fire at the same time maintaining a strong sense of community during the rebuilding process.
