Post-Fire Forest & Landscape Rehabilitation Part 3

This is the final email in a three part vegetation series that included:

Part 3: Actions Going Forward

While the landscape and forest recovery process is already underway, the start of the first full post-fire growing season next spring may reveal latent fire damage to trees and other vegetation.

Residential owners with landscape questions should seek answers and information from neighbors, landscape contractors, arborists, the City Forestry Division, City licensed tree service providers (click here to view those resources), and others according to the situation.

Also, residents can look forward to the City’s tree planting initiative along Flying W Road which is planned to coincide with Arbor Day next April 27 to mark the start of next year’s growing season. This will be a most welcomed sign of recovery!

In addition, the City Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is gathering community input for a plan revitalize the Mountain Shadows Community Park adjacent to Chipeta Elementary.

With the collective efforts of all, the re-emergence of a healthy landscape and urban forest environment will soon begin!
