Community Tree Lighting Ceremony

Colorado Springs Together and Wilson United Methodist Church worked together to plant a community tree for the holidays to provide a symbol of light and hope for the future as the Mountain Shadows community rebuilds and recovers from the fire.

Thanks to the generosity of GESCO Nursery in Franktown, Colorado, and its owners Gerry and Karen Student, a 30 foot community tree was donated and planted in the neighborhood on November 9th at the United Methodist Church.

You are cordially invited to gather with your neighbors for the tree lighting ceremony which is hoped to be the first for many years to come.

When:

Friday, November 30th, 2012
7:00 p.m.

A couple hours before and after the ceremony, there will be an onsite ornament giveaway for families who lost their homes. These ornaments were donated from all across the community as a way to send holiday cheer to our Mountain Shadows neighbors.

Where:

Wilson United Methodist Church
6460 Flying W Ranch Rd.
Colorado Springs, CO 80919

What:

The tree lighting ceremony will be hosted by Wilson United Methodist Church (WUMC). We want to give their team a special thanks for initiating this project and working tirelessly to bring the community together.

After the event, there will be a time of community fellowship with desserts, cider, and hot cocoa.

During this fellowship time, families who lost their homes will also receive ornaments directly from the WUMC congregation.
