Emergency Watershed Protection Assistance
As you are well aware, significant erosion is an after effect of the Waldo Canyon Fire and flooding is a real possibility. If you share this concern, your voice can make a difference.
There is an immediate effort to get the U.S. Congress to approve an amendment to the Supplemental Appropriation for Disaster Assistance (Hurricane Sandy emergency relief), providing Colorado Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) funding for erosion and flood mitigation efforts after the Waldo Canyon Fire and the High Park Fire near Ft. Collins.
This funding is considered critical to protecting the watershed close to Colorado Springs. The issues are outlined in the attached letter from the local Regional Business Alliance.
