Mountain Shadows Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial

Colorado Springs Together has helped the Mountain Shadows neighborhood establish a committee for the purpose of designing and implementing a memorial in the community. In addition, the committee will determine where the memorial will be placed and the logistics of presenting the memorial to the community. The memorial will serve as a reflective reminder for our community of the Waldo Canyon Fire event, and will serve to:

  • honor the memory of those who lost their lives
  • acknowledge the loss of homes and property
  • pay tribute to those who served and protected
  • show the passion and spirit behind the restoration of our community

There are currently a number of artists, community leaders, and individuals serving on the memorial committee. If you are interested in volunteering as a committee member, please make that indication on the survey.

Work on the committee will involve exploring ideas for the type of memorial as well as seeking community-wide input.

If you are a Mountain Shadows resident, please click here to fill out a survey. You will also be able to provide feedback at the February 13 Mountain Shadows Park renovation public process meeting, where the topic of the Mountain Shadows Waldo Canyon Fire Memorial will be on the agenda
